The Silent Auction Proposal

The Stormwind Paladins are purposing a new rule change related to the Auction Draft.

The first round of the auction draft be changed to a silent auction.  Each team will select the player they want to put up for Auction 1 week in advance.  All teams will be able to play a silent bid on those players.  The team with the highest bid at the time the draft starts will draft the player at the price they bid at.

Rules:

  1. Each team will select any draftable player to put up for auction at minimum 1 week before the draft.  (If not a kicker will be auto selected for you).
  2. Each team must bid at least $1 on the player they have chosen to put up for auction.  This simulates exactly how the Auction draft works in ESPN.
  3. When bidding on the 12 players available, no team may exceed a total sum of $185.  This is to ensure if you win all the players you bid on, you are able to bid at least $1 dollar on players the rest of the draft to fill out your roster.

    Example.
    Player 1: $80
    Player 2: $25
    Player 3: $0
    Player 4: $60
    Player 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12: $0
    Total Sum: $165.

  4. All bids must be submitted before the draft start time. If not you will bid $0 dollars on all players and $1 on the player you selected.
The specifics on how the bids will be submitted will be figured out at a later date.  No other teams should officially know what you are bidding until the start of the draft, but feel free to tell anyone whatever you would like.
  5. The way this will work, the beginning of the draft all bets will be revealed.  Each team will select the player they chose to put up for auction.  The winner of that player will bid the amount they won with and bidding will end.  All 12 players in the first round will be done that way.  Once the first round is completed, the draft will continue as normal from that point on.  Any remaining funds will be your budget for the remainder of the draft.

Pros:
1. Each team will be able to plan out their strategy based on the 1st round of players being bid on in advance.
2. Some teams that aren’t able to make the draft are still able to fully participate in the first round.
3. The options of trying to sneak in your sleeper or trying to get a steal in the draft during the blind option will make the rest of the draft interesting.
4. Lots of smack talk and mind games can be had the week leading up to the draft.

Cons:
1. None.
